Vento Sur performs music in both Spanish and Portuguese languages. Its bilingual name Vento (“wind” in Portuguese); Sur (“South” in Spanish)  was inspired by a metaphoric representation of a fresh breeze of music and culture moving from south to north. Vento Sur represents a flowing motion that originates in South America, reenergizes itself in Central America and the Spanish speaking Caribbean, and continues traveling northward. It reaches us in North America as the south wind that brings cultural and musical enrichment to Santa Clarita. Directed by Joao Junqueira, Vento Sur presents music as a great medium for transcendence and as a uniting element for various Latin American cultures.
